Our Approach to Pediatric Sleep

Learn to help families build healthy sleep habits from newborns to toddlers.

More Than Sleep Training

Our curriculum covers a wide range of methods for supporting baby sleep and pediatric sleep challenges — but at our core, we believe a responsive, holistic approach gets families the best results.

A Baby Sleep Approach Built Around Instinct, Not Rules

At Sweet Sleep Academy, we take a responsive, holistic approach to baby sleep and pediatric sleep consulting. Rather than defaulting to rigid sleep training methods, we teach our students to look at the whole picture — a child's development stage, temperament, family dynamic, underlying health factors, and more.

We believe that effective sleep consulting for babies and toddlers starts with understanding the root cause of sleep challenges, not applying a one-size-fits-all fix. Newborn sleep, infant sleep, and toddler sleep all look different — and the families you'll serve deserve individualized guidance, not a script.

You'll graduate knowing how to support parents in a way that honors their instincts and their child's unique temperament, while still creating real, lasting change.

“Thank you for making this process so fulfilling, educational, and rewarding for me. I absolutely love how much I've learned and am excited to move on to the final phase”

How are we different than other programs?

We know that the process of researching programs can feel overwhelming! There are many options out there and we think it is important that you do your research to find the program that is the best fit for you!

When researching Sweet Sleep Academy you will find a few things that stand out about our program…

Our pediatric sleep curriculum is evidence-based and backed by research. The curriculum in our program is not anecdotal information and it isn’t information you will find in a quick google search. Each one of our modules includes evidence based information that is backed by research, studies, and experts.

We teach you the importance of a child’s temperament in the process of addressing sleep. No other program has the emphasis we do on understanding the role of a child’s temperament and how that impacts sleep. Unfortunately many programs apply a one-size-fits all to sleep and don’t teach their students about working with children that are overly sensitive or attached (to name a few). At Sweet Sleep Academy we ensure our students know how to work with children who have various temperaments and how to best support them

Our program teaches you how to take a holistic approach to sleep. “Holistic” is a term that is thrown around often, and we don’t mean this in the sense that we are “crunchy granola”, but rather we look at sleep as a whole with many parts. There are SO many areas that affect sleep from a child’s development stage, to underlying medical issues, to family dynamic and cultural values, and everything in between. As mentioned above, our program is not just focused on sleep training babies and toddlers, but instead we look at the whole picture and ensuring we can help parents discover the underlying cause of the issues present.

We have over 15 years of experience! Our founder, Rachel Mitchell, has been a pediatric and maternity sleep specialist for over 13 years and together with her team, they bring over 15 years of experience in the sleep and wellness field. This is not only reflected in the curriculum but also with our mentorship programs and continued guidance after graduation!
